Diagnosis and surgical management of gastric and duodenal foreign bodies in a 15 month old male Alaskan husky: A case report

A 15 months old male Alaskan husky weighing 28 kg was presented to the hospital with a history of acute onset frequent emesis and not passing stools which had persisted for 5 days, on physical examination animal in dull mentation having lethargy generalised malaise. Clinical revealed that prolonged capillary refill time skin tenting time. Haemato-biochemical profile mild granulocytosis increased packed cell volume. Plain abdominal radiography two large radiopaque foreign bodies stomach proximal portion intestinal loops. Immediately we performed exploratory laparotomy followed by gastrotomy, enterotomy retrieved sized thick rubber objects obstructed duodenal lumen completely. The have shown an uneventful recovery after 1 week proper postoperative care, fluid antibiotic therapy.
